Artist Bio

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio. I received my BA in anthropology from the Ohio State University then went into the Peace Corps where I taught secondary school in Malawi, Africa. After returning to the States I studied painting with Paul Missalat Karamu House in Cleveland. I moved to the Pacific Northwest where I graduated with a BFA in painting from the Museum School in Portland – now the Pacific Northwest College of Art. I moved to Boston for six years and was a member of W.E.B. (Women Exhibiting in Boston), a feminist art organization. I returned to the pacific northwest – to Seattle and after 10 years returned to Cleveland. For over 20 years I worked primarily as an installation artist, frequently using fiber as a line in space. I’ve been working as a printmaker since 2015 and I’m currently a renter at Zygote Press in Cleveland. The common ground I find between my installation and print work is the magic and beauty of a line in space. In addition to group and solo shows around the country I’ve been the recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Grant for Experimental Art, an artist residency in Maribor, Slovenia and artist residency in Dresden, Germany.
